Hi all,
I hope you’re all well and seeing some great results.
I received an email from someone this week who said; “I’ve got 2 sets of twins. The oldest are 3 and the youngest 6 months. I have 3 fingers Diastasis Recti. Do I really need to exercise for 2-3 hours per week to fix it? I just don’t have the time”
It’s an excellent question. Simple answer; No, you don’t.
I completely get that some people don’t have the time to do 2 hour-long sessions per week and have therefore designed the HPNB sessions to be significantly shorter.
Even if you don’t have the time to do the 2 longer “strength sessions” included with the program you will still get results by doing the 7 minute home routine every day.
The home routine is the basis for everything we do. If you have the choice between training twice a week or doing the short home routine every day you should always choose the home routine.
By keeping your muscles active every day you’re giving your body a much better chance to heal.
Remember the 3 stages of Post-Natal training ?
The first stage is all about muscle activation. It’s much easier to achieve this if you do a bit every day rather than spend an hour 2 days per week and then take the other 5 days off. The more often you ask a muscle to function the faster you’ll get results at this stage.
Just a little caveat; This does not mean that you should do the home routine 5-6 times per day, your body also needs time to recover.
Stage 2 is all about muscular endurance. Basically making sure the muscles are strong enough to stay in place and keep working properly for longer. But even this you can do by keeping tension on a specific muscle for longer.
We also understand that everybody has different needs and that not everybody wants to work on the same area so, after a few months, we give you a choice of sessions. But we do this by changing your short home routine, not the longer sessions. So you can work on legs, core or posture depending on what suits you best. Or you can combine them all, at no extra cost.
The reason we change the home routines rather than the longer strength sessions is simply because being active every day is by far the best way to get results.
So, in short, my response to the lady with 2 sets of twins; I know you don’t have the time but don’t worry about it. You can fix your Diastasis Recti, your posture, back-pain and inflexibility and anything else you want to work on, simply by working out for 7-10 minutes per day. Oh, and this is how you measure Diastasis Recti properly 😉
And remember we have these excellent Yoga videos as well.
The second one will be available this week. I just need to spend a day doing the narration on Tuesday 🙂
Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see us do or you have any feedback for us.
Take care,
Peter
